The MATCH Program aims to foster transformative personal and professional growth for Post Doctoral members by carefully pairing mentees with mentors who are also members of SIVB and align with their career goals, interests, personal values, and professional backgrounds.
Eligibility
- Mentees: Post Doctoral members of SIVB seeking guidance and support in their professional development.
- Mentors: Experienced SIVB members willing to share their expertise and insights to support the growth of mentees.
Mentor-Mentee Matching Criteria
Mentors and mentees will be paired thoughtfully based on the information provided in an interest form. Matching criteria include:
- Career Goals: Alignment of professional aspirations to ensure relevant guidance.
- Interests: Consideration of shared personal and professional interests to foster meaningful connections.
- Personal Values: Matching individuals with similar values to build a foundation of mutual respect and understanding.
- Experience: Pairing based on the mentor’s expertise in fields relevant to the mentee’s needs.
Program Structure
The program provides support to mentees through the following events:
- Initial Meeting: All participants will attend an introductory group session to establish expectations and objectives.
- Regular Check-ins: Mentors and mentees are encouraged to engage in periodic discussions to assess progress and address any challenges the mentee may encounter.
- Workshops and Events: All participants are encouraged to attend and participate in the workshops organized by the MATCH Program team.
Reporting Issues
While it is anticipated that all mentor-mentee pairings will foster a positive and mutually beneficial experience, it is acknowledged that concerns or conflicts may occasionally arise. In such instances, both mentors and mentees are required to promptly report any issues to the MATCH Steering Committee—comprising Raj Deepika Chauhan, Piero Barone, Addy Alt-Holland, and Michele Schultz. The Committee will undertake a thorough review of the matter, facilitate appropriate mediation, and endeavor to achieve an equitable resolution. Should it be deemed necessary, the Committee reserves the right to reassign either the mentor or the mentee to ensure that the integrity and productivity of the mentoring experience are maintained for all participants.
Evaluation
The program will include periodic evaluations to assess its effectiveness. Both mentors and mentees will be invited to provide feedback on their experiences, and this input will be used to enhance the program further.
Code of Conduct
Participants are expected to:
- Maintain professionalism and always respect.
- Commit to scheduled meetings and provide timely communication.
- Uphold the values and mission of the SIVB.
Adhere to the SIVB’s Code of Conduct and SIVB’s Meeting Code of Conduct.
