It’s an SIVB reunion!

Come one, come all! This year is like no other, because in addition to our Annual Meeting program, this will be the celebration of 80 years of the Society for In Vitro Biology (SIVB). Over the past eight decades our organization and its dedicated members have made groundbreaking advancements in the fields of In Vitro Biology and Biotechnology of Plants, Animals, Invertebrates, and Humans!

To celebrate this milestone, SIVB is hosting a special reunion event on the evening of Monday, June 8th, bringing together members – both longstanding and new – to connect, share stories, and look ahead to our exciting future as scientists and colleagues. We invite you to particpate in a special reunion to celebrate with your colleagues and reflect on our shared achievements. Join us for refreshments, dancing, conversation, and a trip down memory lane with friends you may not have seen in years! The party begins just after the Section Meetings on Monday night. This event is free to all registrants of the 2026 Meeting so make your plans to join us!

Give Today, Grow Tomorrow!

We can’t make this reunion a success without your support!  Every contribution, big or small, makes a difference and helps create a memorable event. All contributions are tax-deductible, and all funds received will go directly toward supporting our 80-year anniversary celebration. Any funds raised beyond this event’s requirements will go directly to supporting future programs for our Student and Post Doctoral scientists. Please make your donation today by visiting this link to support the “80-Year Celebration Fund.”

Tuesday Evening Benefit at the National Automobile Museum: Driving to Our Future

Join your colleagues on Tuesday, June 9, from 5:45 pm – 9:30 pm for a very special benefit dinner at the National Automobile Museum (NAM). Built on the legacy of William Fisk “Bill” Harrah and sustained by a global community of collectors and enthusiasts, the Museum is dedicated to educating and inspiring visitors of all ages. NAM opened in 1989 and was reported to have “set the standard for automobile museums around the world.” Just as SIVB celebrates the history of a society-changing technology, the NAM preserves and celebrates the passion and innovation behind one of the most significant inventions in world history. This benefit, supporting the SIVB’s Education Fund and its initiatives, will include a buffet dinner on the museum’s charming patio and an opportunity to explore the collection of over 240 eye-popping cars displayed amidst authentic street scenes, sounds, and facades. The collection includes vehicles owned by and lent to the museum including the Thomas Flyer, Herbie the Love Bug, the Ghostbusters’ ECTO-1, and other celebrity, historical, and race cars.  All funds raised above the cost of the event will go directly to “fill the tank” of the SIVB Education Fund, which supports the Education Committee’s goals and activities including the student-organized scientific program at the SIVB’s Annual Meeting. We hope to see you all there to enjoy the company of your colleagues, explore this unique museum, and ensure that SIVB will have the funds it needs to further its educational and outreach goals a long way down the road. The cost to attend this benefit dinner is only $150.00 and includes a buffet dinner and the opportunity to explore the fantastic exhibits of the museum. A cash bar will be available. A limited number of discounted tickets will be made available to student registrants at the rate of $75.00. Space is limited, so purchase your tickets today!

Wednesday Scientific Tour: Scientific Nevada

Reno/Tahoe has an exceptional scientific community just waiting for you to explore! On Wednesday, June 10, join us from 12:45 pm – 4:30 pm for a special tour exploring Reno/Tahoe’s rich scientific community of modern drug testing and ecology research. First you will visit Charles River Laboratories (CRL), a contract research organization that supports the drug development process from preclinical testing through clinical trials. Over the past 5 years, CRL has worked on over 80% of the drugs that have been approved by the FDA. The tour will begin by visiting a state-of-the-art laboratory incorporating automation, multi-color flow cytometry, molecular biology, and cell culture for the advancements of medicine. Next, you will discover the wonders of Lake Tahoe at the Tahoe Science Center! Explore hands-on exhibits, dive into their virtual research boat and ecology lab, create your own watershed, and meet Tahoe’s native and invasive species. Learn about changes to the lake’s ecology and some potential responses to it through interactive experiences and guided tours inspired by cutting-edge research at the University of California – Davis. The cost for this tour is $65.00 and will include visits to Charles River Laboratories and the Tahoe Science Center, boxed lunch, and bus transportation. There are only a few spots available, so make sure to purchase your ticket today!

Note: Fully enclosed shoes and long pants will be required to enter the Charles River Laboratories (CRL) space. Personal protective equipment will be provided by CRL (safety glasses, gloves, lab coat, etc.). Attendees should expect to walk approximately 1 mile during the entirety of the tours.

Wednesday Scientific Tour: Back to Nature

We welcome you to step into nature – literally – just outside of Lake Tahoe, Nevada, on Wednesday, June 10 from 12:45 – 5:15 pm. A small group of guests will travel to and explore the Whittell Forest & Wildlife Area, a 2,650-acre living lab of forested mountain land in the Sierra Nevada, dedicated for research, instruction, and community outreach. Within this pristine natural habitat, scientists have studied soil and nutrient cycling; rodents, beavers and other smaller mammals; bark beetles and other invertebrates, and aquatic creatures. Ongoing research by the Ecohydrology and Ecosystem Processes Group focuses on the interplay of ecosystem productivity, wildfire disturbances, and water cycling; studying how soil heating affects microbial processes; how forest floor plant litter alters evaporation and snowmelt rates; and how climate change may cause phenological mismatches between physical signals and biogeochemical responses in aquatic ecosystems. You will first travel to the Little Valley Research Station before transferring to 4-wheel drive vehicles which will take you into the heart of the forest. Once there, you will have a little over an hour to explore and enjoy the forest. Guides will be available to address questions about the site and the research that is happening there. This cost for this tour is $65.00 and will include boxed lunch, bus and 4-wheel vehicle transportation; and time to explore this private natural wildlife area. Space is limited, so make your reservations early to join us for this exceptional event!

Note: Please bring sun protection and wear comfortable shoes that can walk on uneven, unpaved surfaces as you will be out in nature for the duration of the tour.
