We are headed to Reno, Nevada, for the 2026 In Vitro Biology Meeting from June 6 – 10, 2026 for the first time ever for this momentous celebration! Before you jump on that plane, train, or automobile, take a moment to review these updates, so you have all the information you need before you arrive. All SIVB members are welcome to join us for our special reunion event on Monday, June 8. Celebrate this milestone with your colleagues and friends in the Edge. All members – whether you just joined SIVB or have been a member for all 80 years – are invited to celebrate, share stories, and look ahead to our exciting future as scientists and colleagues. Plan to dance the night away with refreshments, conversation, and a trip down memory lane with friends you may not have seen in years!
THE FINAL SCIENTIFIC PROGRAM IS AVAILABLE ONLINE!

The 2026 Meeting program schedule can be found on our website. The full program and abstracts will be available to meeting registrants through the EventScribe meeting website and the official Mobile App. These online resources will be provided to those who have registered in advance for the In-Person meeting and will also be made available after the meeting to those who have registered for the On-Demand Limited Access Program. Abstracts will be published as an online proceedings made freely available on Springer’s website toward the end of the year. This will be in lieu of an on-site abstract issue, so the Mobile App will be essential for your participation in Reno. In advance of the in-person meeting, all In-Person pre-registrants will be emailed a private link to the EventScribe website along with their personal access key and login. This will let you take the meeting on the go through your tablet or phone! You will be able to take notes on presentations, network with other attendees, set your schedule, review abstracts, and more, all in the palm of your hand! If you are registering on site, you will be provided with directions to log in and access the content at the time of your registration. In the meantime, you can make your plans by viewing the full online program on the SIVB’s website.
Remember, if you didn’t register in advance, walk-in registration will be available at SIVB’s Registration Desk, found on the Naples Welcome Center beginning on Saturday, June 6 at 7:00 am. If you plan to register once you arrive in Reno, here are the onsite registration rates.

VIEWING THE ON-DEMAND LIMITED ACCESS PROGRAM
Two (2) weeks after the in-person meeting concludes, all registrants of the On-Demand Limited Access Program will be sent their individual link and access key to view the on-demand program content. At that time, you will be able to create an account to watch the pre-recorded presentations, view the virtual posters, and interact with all meeting participants (both in-person and on-demand) through the My Experience networking resource. Are you unable to travel to Reno, but still want to enjoy the scientific experience you can only find at an SIVB meeting? You can still register for the On-Demand Limited Access Program through June 4!
REMINDERS AND GUIDELINES FOR ATTENDING THE MEETING IN RENO
We appreciate all attendees following these rules to allow for a smooth and positive event experience for everyone.
Marijuana Policy at the Peppermill
The Hotel is the holder of various gaming licenses issued by the Nevada Gaming Commission. Because of this, the use, possession, or sale of marijuana or marijuana-related products on the premises is strictly prohibited. This includes in the meeting space or in your private rooms. No smoking, vaping, or ingestion of any marijuana or marijuana-based products is allowed while at the meeting.
Attendees Under 21
For those of our attendees who are under 21 years of age, the Peppermill Resort Spa & Casino is fully committed to promoting responsible gaming and the prevention of underage gaming. The law in Nevada notes that a person under the age of 21 years shall not:
(a) Play, be allowed to play, place wagers at, or collect winnings from, whether personally or through an agent, any gambling game, slot machine, race book, sports pool or pari-mutuel operator.
(b) Loiter, or be permitted to loiter, in or about any room or premises wherein any licensed game, race book, sports pool or pari-mutuel wagering is operated or conducted.
This means that any attendee who is under the age of 21 at the meeting is not allowed to gamble anywhere on the premises, sit at any of the bars or gambling tables (even if not gambling), or enter the casinos unless it is to travel to one of the restaurants on the premises of the Peppermill Casino (Oceano, Romanza, Sports Deli, or Café Milano).
Proof of Status requirement:
All students, postdocs, and research technicians planning to register on site will be required to provide proof of your student, Postdoc, or Research Technician status when registering. This also applies to those who registered in advance but did not email their proof to our office by May 20. Proof of student status can be one (1) of the following: student ID, letter from your supervisor stating your current status, or current class schedule. Proof of Postdoctoral or Research Technician status should be a letter from your supervisor confirming your current status. If you do not bring this proof, you may be required to pay the regular registration rate to attend the meeting.

ALL STUDENTS ARE ELIGIBLE FOR SIVB’S POSTER COMPETITION
Every student who presents an in-person poster or Lightning Talk is eligible to be considered for the Student Poster Competition. During each of the scheduled in-person poster presentations, expert judges will circulate the exhibit hall to review the posters and ask questions of the presenters. The Student Poster Competition serves to recognize and reward the research and presentation skills of students. The Plant Biotechnology Section and IVACS Section will each select first- and second-place winners. These winners will be announced and presented with a cash award during the SIVB Business Meeting in Granby ABC on Tuesday, June 10, at 5:00 pm.

SPECIAL EVENTS ON SATURDAY
We also encourage you to take advantage of the all-day Saturday Pre-conference workshops. Come early to attend the Advances in Plant Transformation: Morphogenic Genes and Nextgen Agrobacterium workshop fundamental practices for handling Agrobacterium; AUTOMATION 101: Stepping Into Automation covering key team skills, timeline factors, and preparation strategies for designing and implementing an automation project; and Panel Discussion on Lab Automation Platforms: Advances, Challenges, and Perspectives.
SHARE IN THE EXCITEMENT AT OUR SILENT AUCTION
SIVB is thrilled to be holding our 27th annual silent auction fundraiser at this year’s meeting. The Biggest Little Silent Auction will begin on Saturday night and run until Tuesday at 10:30am. The auction will have fun and interesting items for everyone to bid on with values ranging from a few dollars to priceless. This dynamic event was established by Marietta Wheaton Saunders at the 2000 World Congress as a way to support the SIVB and its initiatives. It is one of the most fun parts of the meeting, but it requires your support to be successful. If you have an item, experience, or service you would like to donate to support the SIVB, please email michele@sivb.org to let us know what you are bringing and its approximate value, then drop it off at the SIVB Registration Desk at the Naples Welcome Center when you arrive on Saturday and we will gratefully include it in the auction.

EXPLORE ALL RENO HAS TO OFFER AT OUR SPECIAL EVENTS
This year, we are offering a number of special opportunities for you to enjoy some of the fun opportunities found in Reno and nearby Tahoe. You can purchase tickets for these 3 events when you check in at the Registration Desk at the Peppermill Resort and Spa, but do so quickly as space is limited and tickets won’t last long!
- Join us for a special benefit dinner at the National Automobile Museum. Support SIVB’s Education Fund by attending this excursion to explore their collection of over 240 eye-popping cars displayed amidst authentic street scenes, sounds, and facades. The collection includes vehicles owned by and lent to the museum including the Thomas Flyer, Herbie the Love Bug, the Ghostbusters’ ECTO-1, and other celebrity, historical, and race cars. All funds raised above the cost of the event will go directly to “fill the tank” of the SIVB Education Fund, which supports the Education Committee’s goals and activities including the student-organized scientific program. The cost to attend this benefit dinner is only $150.00 and includes a buffet dinner, cash bar, and the opportunity to explore the fantastic exhibits of the museum. A limited number of discounted tickets will be made available to student registrants at the rate of $75.00.
- Dive into this trip Back to Nature where you will get to explore the Whittell Forest & Wildlife Area. Tickets to this afternoon tour are $65 and include will include boxed lunch, bus and 4-wheel vehicle transportation; and time to explore this private natural wildlife area.
