

“National FFA annually recognizes FFA members who rise to the top with the American Star Awards. These members have gone above and beyond in their attitude, involvement, community service and supervised agricultural experience. Finalists for these awards have mastered skills in research. The American Star in Agriscience is awarded to the FFA member that demonstrates the top agriscience-based supervised agricultural experience in the nation, including students who are actively engaged in doing their own research individually, as well as those students who may be cooperating on research projects with others.” This fall Jasmyn Hoeger was named a “National FFA Organization American Star in Agriscience Finalist,” one of 4 finalists selected nationwide for this highest award The National FFA Organization can bestow on a member. This award recognized all of her research over the past 6 years. They also created a video highlighting her research journey.


The inaugural Bob V. Conger Plant Biotechnology Student Oral Presentation Competition will be held during the 2024 World Congress on In Vitro Biology on June 10, 2024. Competition finalists were selected based on the quality of their abstracts which addressed the following: Background, Objectives, Methods, Results, Discussion and Conclusions. At the World Congress, a panel of judges will evaluate the presentations at the meeting. Criteria for the evaluation include experimental design, data analysis, proper interpretation of the results, originality of the study, technical difficulty, appearance and ability of the student to present their research. Winners will be presented with a certificate and a cash award at the meeting. These prizes are supported by the Bob V. Conger Endowment Fund.
