Foaziatu Bukari
Foaziatu Bukari is a third year PhD student in Integrative Biosciences and a graduate research and teaching assistant at Tuskegee University. She holds a BS in Agricultural Engineering from University for Development Studies in Ghana, and a master’s degree in Agricultural Economics from Tennessee State University. Ms. Bukari’s research interests include plant genomics & biotechnology, molecular biology, breeding, tissue culture, gene expression, gene editing and the application of editing tools (CRISPR/Cas-system) for enhanced and continued crop genetic improvement and variety breeding. She is currently working on establishing hexaploid sweet potato protoplast as a system for gene expression, genome editing and elucidation of gene functions. Ms. Bukari has been a member of the Society for In Vitro Biology since 2017 and currently serves as the Plant Student Co-chair for the 2018 annual SIVB Meeting in St. Louis, MO.
