NEW: Special Saturday Scientific Writing Workshop
SIVB is offering a special workshop on Saturday, June 11 from 8:30 am – 4:30 pm. English has become the international language of science, business and education. Competency in written language is necessary for anyone wishing to communicate on a global scale, whether writing for academia or business. The workshop is primarily intended for less experienced English writing students, who have never written a scientific paper, but also for seasoned, veteran Professors, who have published many papers. We will discuss grammatical issues, such as usage of definite and indefinite articles, topic sentence construction, Journal Instruction to Authors (ITA), and misuse of some very commonly used words. We will also talk about the traditional elements of a refereed journal paper. There will be plenty of class interaction and even some homework where we will examine selected student’s writing assignments. So come prepared to participate fully by asking questions and interacting with the class. It is recommended that you register early if you wish to participate in this workshop. Registration is limited. Please register no later than February 19 to be included in the workshop.
Disclaimer: Workshop is subject to cancellation after February 19 if attendance is not met. For details on registration, please visit our meeting site.
