
News from the In Vitro Animal Cell Sciences (IVACS) Section
SIVB IVACS Member Guy Smagghe (Ghent University, Belgium) was one of the 539 AAAS members that were elected to Fellow Status in 2011. Dr. Smagghe was recognized for his contributions to science and technology in the areas of agriculture, food, and renewable resources. The 2011 AAAS Fellows were recognized at the Fellows Forum which was held February 18, 2011 during the AAAS annual meeting in Vancouver, British Columbia. The new Fellows received a certificate and a blue and gold rosette to symbolize their outstanding accomplishments.
MEETING NOTICE
The 3rd Annual Conference of the American Council for Medicinally Active Plants (ACMAP) will be held at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro, Arkansas, between May 22 and May 25, 2012. The conference will include plenary and concurrent talks, poster sessions, a tour of the Arkansas Biosciences Institute and a field trip. World renowned speakers from across the United States and abroad will present their work related to medicinal uses of plants, biotechnology and production of natural health products and uses of plant-derived products as therapeutics and as cancer preventing agents. This conference will provide a unique network opportunity for students, faculty, industry and medical field representatives to share their science and ideas and develop productive collaborations.
