William J. Smith,
SIVB President

Fellow SIVB Members,

Time continues to fly past. Just three months remaining in my presidential term. Words cannot express the pleasure I have had serving as your SIVB president. The Board of Directors worked tirelessly on your behalf. The result is a strong society with a solid financial base, continually improving administrative processes, technological upgrades to enhance member-to-member and member-to-society communications, outstanding publications spanning our in-house newsletter, our two journals, and a number of book projects capturing major topics in our members’ fields of study, and a very proactive public policy stance.

Foremost in your minds today should be the exciting program for the June World Congress to be held in Bellevue WA. SIVB is proud to co-sponsor the Congress with our Japanese colleagues. The Program Committee has done a fantastic job and the Local Organizing committee has provided a number of opportunities to see both the physical and professional grandeur of the Pacific Northwest. I hope your plans are in place to join us at the meeting. I’ll be walking around the meeting venue wearing my new badge as Past-president and looking forward to seeing you all. Please stop me and tell me how SIVB is meeting your needs and what more we could be doing. I plan to stay involved with the society long after my term is over.

You are the reason SIVB exists. Stay involved or get involved. We can only succeed with all of our members moving us forward.

See you at the World Congress.

SIVB Member and President,
Bill Smith
